Industrialists should Introduce their Products to the Countries of Eastern Africa
On the 25th March 2003, High Commissioner of Kenya, Mohammad Omar Soba visited the third “Made in Gujranwala” Industrial Exhibition 2003. He was received by the President GCCI Khawaja Tahir Hasan, S.V.P. GCCI Ahsanullah Chughtai, V.P. GCCI. Ch. Shafique Ahmed, convener exhibition M.Akram Badshah, Akhlaq Ahmad Butt (Member Exhibition Committee), Ex. President Haji Murad Ali, Nawaz Ahmad Bajwa, Ch. M. Aslam, Khawaja Zarar Kalim, Rana Shehzad Hafeez and Qasim-ul- Karim. Arriving at 10 am, he toured the exhibition well into the day and was highly impressed by the quality of the products on display, which he asserted, met international standards.

While speaking to the officials of Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and to the other people present there, the High Commissioner expressed the popularity of Pakistani products in Kenya. Consequently, he said, industrialists should introduce their products to Eastern Africa like Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia and especially in Kenya. He encouraged the industrial community to conduct such industrial exhibitions and assured them that the Government of Kenya would help the industrialists in conducting such exhibitions in Kenya. The following remarks were entered in the visitor’s book. “Extremely impressed on the standards of the exhibition of high quality products”.

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab:
On the same day advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Rana Ijaz Ahmed Khan also visited the exhibition. He was received by the President GCCI Khawaja Tahir Hasan, S.V.P. Chamber Ahsanullah Chughtai, V.P. Chamber. Ch. Shafique Ahmed, convener exhibition M.Akram Badshah, Akhlaq Ahmad Butt (member Exhibition committee), Ex. President Haji Murad Ali, Nawaz Ahmad Bajwa, Ch. M. Aslam, Khawaja Zarar Kalim, Rana Shehzad Hafeez and Qasim-ul- Karim.

While visiting the different stalls displayed at the exhibition area he said that the industrial development is the only way to progress and maintaining the economical stability of the country. Referring to the Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat industrial triangle, he asserted that in order to wipe out unemployment an industrial state will be established in 34 districts of Punjab. He regarded this industrial triangle to be the back bone of the country’s economy because thousands of people are making their livings from these industries. While scrutinizing the products displayed at the exhibition of international exhibition he emphasized that these products are the identification of Pakistan. He urged the Government to wipe out all the hardships of the industries so that the industry can play its role in the development of the country. The following remarks were written down by him in the visitor’s book. “I visited the industrial exhibition which is marvelous and can attract total business of Pakistan. In this regard Government will facilitate in all possible manners”.

After both the dignitaries had dined with the officials of the Exhibition at lunch, they were presented with the shields from the GCCI.
