Gujranwala has achieved a unique status: Federal Secretary for Industry

Muhammad Javed Ashraf, the federal secretary for Industry has said that he has witnessed a number of exhibitions where the products from all parts of Pakistan are put on display for the public but Made in Gujranwala is the first industrial exhibition where only the locally manufactured items have been displayed. He said that the quality and the standard of these products are above board and they are in no way inferior to the products made by China, Korea, India, and even Taiwan. He appreciated the efforts of the business community in promoting industry and increasing the export of different commodities to other countries of central Asia, Europe and America. He humorously said that the people in the past recognized Gujranwala as the city of wrestlers but now it has achieved a unique status by dint of its unique products. He said that the export of Pakistan in all industrial sectors is 5.5 % whereas there is an increase of 8.8 % in the industrial department.

He stressed the need to adopt modern technology to get the products value added for the purpose of export. It will certainly have good effects on the country’s economy. He assured the manufacturers that they will get a better response from the public if the standard of the products is up to the mark and they sell it at a comparatively low cost. He emphasized that this is the only way to capture the global market. He said it is the moral duty of the state to provide a sense of security to the citizens besides maintaining the law and order situation in the country. The government is consistently trying to eradicate social and religious unrest to attract foreign investment for the promotion of industry. He said the government is ready to offer every possible help and support to the industrialists in fulfilling their cherished goals.
